Hello world it's me again the little big sister (lol). Today for blog Wednesday I would like to talk about the fashion industry. About how unless you're doing formal wear, black tie, or couture how the other markets of fashion makes it hard for indie designers. So, we will start with the fast fashion market. Here you have H&M, Zara, Forever 21 etc. Most stores are transferring into the fast market because of a lot of reasons. One being they can keep up with any trend that comes out. Second because they can produce items and large quantity's at a fast pace which means the store is always stocked. Last but not least it's cheaper to create, Why you may ask, well you are not working on a piece a very long time. Have you ever wondered why you purchased an item wore it once and your sleeve has a hole in it. Well this may be the very reason it happens. See as a designer it takes us longer to produce an item because we make quality. We make items that will last and also are durable. We provide an actual stay seam and not just an inside finish. Years ago before the fast fashion houses came around the clothing you purchased had a seam for closure and a surge for finishing, which provided you with an additional seam or hem. Today when you look into your clothing you tend to only find one and that will be the surge for finishing. Now some people are OK with that, while others just have to deal with it. Now me being a designer I don't shop at stores a lot and if I do it has to be something really cute that I can style differently.
Top Stitches are from a Serger

Bottom Stitch is a what you would do for a seam or hem.
Now this section will be about the boutique's. One of my issues with stores is everything looks alike, nothing is different. You will shop around a million online boutiques and malls or stores and will find the same thing at each one different prices, same price, maybe even more. Now this is my number 1 pet peeve if you do not know pricing then do not open a boutique. Boutique owners please stop under cutting yourself you are hurting the market and yourself in the long run. But back to my identical sister's what happen to originality? Does it still exist? I love ya'll but you're losing your identity. Or maybe the 30 dollars spent to look like the girl down the street is worth the money. This is why we made U.S.D.No one wanted to go to an event and be dressed a like. Did we stop caring about that? We didn't because, once we sell out of that item it's gone. We don't need 100,000 Tiffany's running around looking alike. We want you to feel special, feel that uniqueness knowing that you could be the only one in your city rocking your fit (NOW THAT's STATUS). That's originality for that A** In a world full of stereotypes you can break them by being who you are, By embracing your unique self, your truth. There are designers all over the world designing unique piece's and if I can't make it I know someone who can.

Just know there are other options out there. Now it might cost you a little more money and they might not have an exclusive big name but they will provide you with quality long lasting clothes, with your identity in mind. So, lets start back thinking outside the box.
